A Small Animal Veterinary Technician is a trained professional who assists veterinarians in the medical care of companion animals, primarily dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small pets. Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Monitor and assist with routine check-ups, medical treatments, and post-surgical recovery.
Medical Procedures: Assist in diagnostics, including drawing blood, taking X-rays, and running lab tests.
Surgical Assistance: Prepare animals for surgery, monitor anesthesia, and assist during procedures.
Administering Treatments: Give medications, vaccinations, and IV fluids under veterinary supervision.
Animal Handling & Restraint: Safely manage pets during exams and procedures to minimize stress and injury.
Client Education: Teach pet owners about nutrition, preventative care, and post-treatment instructions.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate medical records and update patient histories.
